LLAB Design, led by Mike Wong and Kaci Cheung, has created a truly innovative concept with their Unlimited Happiness gift box set. This unique design not only showcases the possibilities and power of combining fine paper, printing effects, and design but also ensures a joyous and happy New Year celebration for everyone.

The Unlimited Happiness gift box set is a comprehensive package that contains everything needed for the Chinese New Year holidays. The design revolves around the theme of unlimited happiness, inspired by the traditional Chinese saying "the never-ending 3s and 6s," which symbolizes infinity and wealth. The box set is divided into three layers, each in a hexagonal shape, representing the auspicious nature of the occasion.

What sets the Unlimited Happiness gift box set apart is its attention to detail and unique features. The top layer of the box is stamped with gold and made from insulating material, serving as a teapot coaster while serving tea. The second layer consists of two hexagonal red packet packages, featuring different Chinese New Year mascots transformed into cute New Year aliens. These mascots, including lion dancers, firecrackers, lanterns, sesame doughnuts, Buddha, and spring onions, are destined to bring happiness to every corner of the universe. The box can also be transformed into candy boxes, perfect for serving treats to visiting guests and keeping children entertained.

The base layer of the box features traditional Fai Chun, a decorative Chinese New Year banner, which can be used to sprinkle New Year spirit in any space. But there's a surprise! Once the Fai Chun is removed, the inner layer of the box can be gently pulled up to transform it into a vase container. This container can hold an old vase, giving it a brand new shine with shades of gold and red, illuminating the room and enhancing the traditional touch for the New Year. If you don't have a vase, simply place a flower in a water bottle and insert it into the paper vase container for the same effect.

The realization of the Unlimited Happiness gift box set involved various printing effects and textures of paper to deliver a premium touch. LLAB Design created six alien characters related to Chinese greetings, each printed on red packets with different paper and printing effects that match the meaning of the greeting. This attention to detail and craftsmanship truly showcases the design value, printing effects, and paper quality.

The Unlimited Happiness gift box set, with its dimensions of 160mm x 190mm x 210mm, is a testament to LLAB Design's creativity and dedication to delivering a unique and memorable experience. This project, which started in May 2017 and finished in January 2018, required overcoming various production and structural challenges. The team worked closely with printing companies to ensure the best outcome and incorporated the concept of unlimited happiness through the use of galaxy elements and different Chinese New Year mascots.

It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2019. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
